Our shop is tucked away in the Moon Mill Compound over in Sewri West. If you know the Rajiv Industrial Estate on T.J. Road, you know it can get pretty crowded and loud back here. We deal with fire extinguishers and hydrants mostly. It is dirty, heavy work but somebody has to make sure the equipment actually works when there is an emergency. We spend a lot of our time refilling old cylinders and checking the valves for leaks. The compound has a lot of history, though these days it is just a lot of small businesses like ours squeezed together in old buildings. We are not a big corporation with a shiny lobby or a marketing department. It is mostly just tools, spare parts, and red tanks sitting everywhere you look. Sometimes we are out at factories all day doing inspections. Other times we are just here in the workshop fixing a pump. We have been in Sewri long enough to know most of the neighbors. People stop by to get their home extinguishers checked or to ask about some new fire regulation they heard about. We just give them a straight answer based on what we know. Fire safety is not something you want to overcomplicate. You want the water to come out or the foam to spray when you pull that pin. That is the main thing we focus on here.
