Dineshchandra Nandalal & Co. has been operating out of 125, Kika Street for quite some time now. Gulalmati is the kind of neighborhood where everyone knows everyone else eventually. Our shop isn't much to look at from the outside, just a standard storefront in a busy lane. We spend most of our mornings sorting through papers and taking calls from people we’ve known for years. The building is old, and you can hear the street noise all day long. Sometimes it gets a bit overwhelming with the rickshaws and the shouting outside, but we are used to it by now. There is no air conditioning, just a few ceiling fans that have been humming for decades. We don't have a big team of executives. It's just a few of us making sure everything moves along properly. The shelves are stacked high with things we've collected over the years. We don't really do much advertising because word of mouth usually does the job for us. It is a simple way of living. We arrive early, drink some tea, and get to work. By the time we close the shutters at night, we feel like we’ve put in a solid day. If you ever walk down Kika Street, you’ll see our sign hanging there. It’s a bit faded, but it still works. This place is just a part of who we are, honestly.
