Our place is in the Grants Building on Arthur Bunder Road. Being here in Colaba, the air always smells a bit like the sea and the old buildings have a lot of character, even if they are a bit crumbly around the edges. We are in suite 6/13, which is a bit of a maze to find if you aren't used to these old Mumbai structures. It is a small space, mostly filled with cardboard boxes, paper ledgers, and a couple of old wooden desks. We do import and export work, so there is a lot of talk about shipping schedules, customs, and where things are currently stuck. It is a lot of waiting for the phone to ring and then a sudden rush to get things sorted out. We don't have a lot of room to move around, especially when a new shipment of samples arrives and takes up the floor space. The wooden floors creak when you walk, and the ceiling fans are probably older than most of the staff. We like it here, though. There is a certain rhythm to the neighborhood that you just don't get in other parts of the city. We grab our lunch from the local stalls and spend most of the day coordinating between people we have known for years. It isn't a high-tech operation. We still write things down in notebooks and rely on face-to-face talk. It is just how we run things.
