Dia Precious Jewellery is located inside The Taj Mahal Palace & Tower Hotel over at Apollo Bunder. It sounds like a very fancy spot, and it is, but we are just regular people working here every day. Our shop is part of the hotel complex, so we see a lot of people coming and going from all over the world. Even though the surroundings are grand, our daily life is pretty much the same as any other jewelry business. We spend time polishing the glass, arranging the displays, and waiting for visitors. We don’t do the whole high-pressure sales thing. We just sit with the customers and show them what we have. Working at Apollo Bunder means we get to see the sea every morning when we arrive. The hotel is a busy place, and there is always something happening in the lobby or the hallways. We’ve been here for a while, so we’ve gotten used to the security and the formal atmosphere. But inside our own space, it’s just us. We focus on the jewelry and making sure everything is accounted for. It’s a lot of responsibility because the items are quite valuable. We don’t have a big corporate team; it’s just a few of us making sure the shop runs smoothly. It’s a unique place to work, but at the end of the day, it’s just our job.
