Out here in Kanjur Marg East, things move at their own pace until the delivery trucks show up. Our office is at 1/1 Ambika Niwas in Nehru Nagar, which is a busy little pocket of Mumbai. Dhl Express India Pvt.Ltd might sound like a huge name, but at this branch, it’s just a few of us making sure everything gets sorted correctly. The floor is often covered with boxes of all sizes waiting to go somewhere else. It’s a bit cramped when a big shipment comes in, and we have to step over things to get to the back desk. The humidity in Mumbai doesn't help much, so the ceiling fan is always on the highest setting. We spend a lot of time checking labels and making sure the zip codes are right. Kanjur Marg station isn't too far away, so there’s always a stream of people walking past our door. Sometimes neighbors pop their heads in just to say hello or ask about a package. We don’t have those shiny glass walls you see in the city center. It’s just a normal room with some sturdy shelves and a lot of tape dispensers. Most of the day is spent on the phone or typing into the system. By the time we lock up at night, the street has usually quieted down a bit. We just try to get every parcel out on time without making too much of a fuss about it. There's a tea stall across the street where we go when the afternoon slump hits for a quick break.
