Khan Hosiery

Khan Hosiery is in Godown No. A-2 at Poonawala Chawl. We are in the Kalyan Wadi area of Dharavi, right next to the Abhudaya Bank. It is a very busy part of Mahim East. If you have ever been to Dharavi you know how the lanes are. It is crowded and loud but there is a lot of work happening. We spend our days surrounded by fabric and finished hosiery goods. The godown is packed from floor to ceiling. It can be a bit dark inside but we have some good lights so we can see what we are doing. We don't have any fancy marketing. People know us because we have been in this spot for a long time. The bank is the best way to tell people where to go. We deal with a lot of wholesalers and small shop owners. There is always someone coming by to check the quality or pick up an order. We drink tea from the stall at the corner and talk about the prices of cotton. It is hard work and the summers are really hot inside the chawl. But we are used to it. We don't have a fancy office chair, just a wooden stool and a heavy table for the paperwork. We keep the books by hand mostly. It’s the old way but it works for us. That is how we run Khan Hosiery every day.
