Deep-Jyoti Hydraulic Engg. Co. is located over at 1809 in the G.I.D.C. Estate. If you know where Rajesh Pharma is, we are just directly opposite them. It is a busy industrial estate, so there is always the smell of grease and the sound of metal moving around. Our unit at 1809 isn't the biggest one on the block, but it serves us well for what we do every day. The floor usually has a few stains from the hydraulic fluids we work with, and the workbenches are cluttered with tools that have been used for years. We open up the shutters early in the morning to let the air in before the heat gets too bad. It’s a practical place, not meant for looking pretty or impressing visitors with a lobby. Most of our day is spent at the back of the shop fixing things or taking measurements. The guys from the other units in G.I.D.C. often stop by for a quick chat or to borrow a wrench. It’s a lot of hard work and sometimes our hands stay black with grime until the end of the shift. Being across from the pharma place helps people find us easier since they have a big sign. We just focus on getting through the pile of work on the floor. It’s a simple life at 1809 and we just keep the machines running as best as we can without making any fuss.
