D V Joshi Co is located right in the middle of the bustle of Lower Parel. We are over at Mr. Prakash V. Wadekar’s place, which is 2 D 318 on the third floor of Jai Ambe Sadan. If you know Shankarrao Naram Path, you know how busy it gets around here. Being on the third floor means we get a bit of a climb every morning, which keeps us awake. The building has that old Mumbai feel to it, with narrow corridors and the sound of the city coming through every open window. It’s crowded, but that’s just how things are in this part of town. We don’t have a lot of extra space, so every corner of the office is filled with something useful, mostly stacks of paper and the computers we use all day. You can hear the trains if you listen closely enough, reminding you of the rush outside. We’ve been at this address for a long time, and we don’t really see a reason to move. It’s convenient for the commute, even if the traffic on the path below can be a nightmare during monsoon season. We just keep our heads down and get through the tasks at hand. There isn’t much ceremony here; we just open up in the morning, do what needs to be done, and lock up when the sun goes down. It’s a practical way to run things, keeping it simple and local.
