Cotton Farm

We’re located up on the 4th floor of the shopping centre in Bhendi Bazar, specifically in office number 410. If you’ve ever been to Bhendi Bazar, you know how packed the streets are with people and stalls selling everything you can imagine. Getting up to the 4th floor can be a bit of a climb if you don't want to wait for the lift, and even then, it’s a tight squeeze. Our space is filled with samples of cotton and different fabrics piled up on shelves. It doesn't look like much of a farm, despite the name, but it’s where we handle all the business stuff. The air inside always has a bit of lint floating around because of all the cloth samples we keep. We spend most of our time on the phone or going through stacks of invoices and shipping orders. It’s a lot of paperwork and checking the quality of the material under the lights. Through the windows, you can hear the noise from the market below, which never really stops until very late. It’s a very old building and the hallways are narrow and dark. We have a small table where we sit and talk to people who come by to check on their textile orders. It’s a practical setup without any unnecessary fluff. We’ve been in this office for years and the walls are covered in old calendars. It’s just a small part of the big machine that is the Mumbai textile trade.
