Located at 55/57 on Nagdevi Cross Lane, our building is one of the older structures in this part of Mumbai. If you’ve ever walked down this lane, you know it’s filled with hardware and tools of every kind. The space inside is mostly taken up by racks of industrial components and metal parts. There isn't much room for a fancy office, so we just have a couple of desks tucked away in the corners. It’s a place that smells of iron and old paper. We don’t have any marketing slogans or big posters on the walls. Most of our day is spent helping people find the specific parts they need for their machines or projects. The street is so narrow that you can almost touch the buildings on both sides, and it’s always full of people moving goods on handcarts. We’ve grown used to the noise and the constant movement. It’s a no-nonsense business where we focus on the inventory and making sure the counts are correct. We don’t spend time on polished presentations. We just provide the parts and keep the ledger updated. It’s a traditional way of doing things, but it’s served us well in this busy area. Every morning starts with opening up the heavy shutters and checking what arrived the night before. We stay busy until the sun goes down and the lane finally starts to get a bit quieter. It’s hard work, but we are used to the pace.
