Up on the second floor of 456 Kalbadevi Road, it stays pretty busy from the moment we open up. If you know Mumbai, you know how packed this street gets. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, especially if you're carrying anything heavy, but we've gotten used to it over the years. The walls in here could probably use a new coat of paint, but honestly, nobody really has the time to think about that. We have stacks of files and boxes sitting in the corners because space is tight in this part of town. You can hear the traffic and the horns from the street below all day long. Sometimes it’s hard to hear the phone ringing when a big truck goes by. It’s an old building, but it holds up well enough for what we do. We don't have any of those modern open-plan layouts you see in magazines. It’s just a bunch of desks and people trying to get their paperwork sorted. Lunchtime usually involves someone going out to get vada pav for the whole office. We've been at this location for a while, and even though the neighborhood is crowded and chaotic, it feels right to be here in the middle of everything. It’s not a quiet place, but it’s where the business happens, and we make it work with what we have.
