Our office is up on the eighth floor of the Meadows building in the Sahar Plaza Complex. Being at 803 gives us a view of the madness on Andheri Kurla Road down below. If you’ve ever been to this part of Mumbai, you know the traffic is something else, especially near the Kohinoor Continental. Inside Braco Electricals (India) Pvt Ltd, it’s a bit calmer than the street, but not by much. The phones are usually going off with people asking about shipments or pricing. We have a lot of files stacked up because there’s always more paperwork than we expect. The AC runs all day to keep the Mumbai humidity out, which makes it a decent place to spend the day. Most of us eat lunch at our desks or head down to the little sandwich stalls near the complex entrance. It’s a busy environment but it’s not stiff. We talk about the cricket scores while we organize the electrical supply logs. Sometimes the elevators take forever, so we have to plan our meetings carefully. The carpet is a bit worn in the high-traffic areas and the desks are crowded with computers and catalogs. We just try to keep up with the pace of the city. It’s a lot of coordination and making sure the right boxes get to the right people at the right time. We finish late and then join the crowds at the train station like everyone else.
