Big Buy Impex India Llp operates out of Shop 9 in the Suraj Building. We are located on Jagannath Bhatankar Road, which most people around here still call Elphinstone Road. It’s a busy part of Mumbai, right in the heart of the city. Being in a shop-front rather than a high-rise office makes us feel closer to the street. You can hear the trains and the traffic all day long. We deal with a lot of different products coming through. Our space is small but we use every inch of it for storage and desk space. The Suraj Building is an older structure, typical of this neighborhood. It has a lot of character, even if it’s a bit worn down. We started this business because we wanted to be in the center of the trading action. Mumbai City is the place for that. Most of our day is spent talking to drivers and checking on containers. We don't really do marketing or anything like that. Most people find us through word of mouth or because they saw the shop while walking down Jagannath Bhatankar Road. It’s a lot of hard work and long hours. The humidity in Mumbai can be brutal in the summer, especially in an old building like this, but we get on with it. We just focus on the trade and making sure the numbers add up at the end of the month.
