Gems Watch Co. is situated at No. 73 Ebrahim Rehmatulla Road in Bhendi Bazar. If you know Bhendi Bazar, you know it’s one of the busiest places you could be. There are people everywhere and the noise from the street never really stops. Our shop is right in the middle of all that. We spend our time working on watches and clocks behind the small counter. It’s a compact space, so we have to be very careful with where we put things. There are tools and small parts scattered on the workbenches, but we usually know where everything is. The building is old, like most of the ones on Ebrahim Rehmatulla Road, and it has a lot of character. We don't have any big displays or fancy lighting. It’s just a place where we sit and focus on the tiny gears and springs. Sometimes it’s hard to hear customers over the sound of the traffic outside, but we manage. We’ve been here for quite some time, and we see the same faces passing by every day. It’s a very local atmosphere. We open up in the morning and stay until the evening, just taking things as they come. It’s not a complicated way to live, but it keeps us busy. We mostly just talk about the work and what needs to be fixed next. It is what it is, and we stay here till the day is over.
