Bhawani Printers

Bhawani Printers is located in Ganu Narayan Chawl on Jijamata Road. We are in the Pump House area of Andheri East, which is a place that never really sleeps. Our workspace is part of a traditional chawl setup, so it is quite narrow and deep. We have our printing presses and cutting machines lined up against the walls. It gets pretty hot in here during the summer months, so we keep the fans running at full speed. The floor is often covered in ink stains and paper trimmings, which is just the way a printing shop looks when it's busy. We spend our days setting up plates and watching the paper feed through the rollers. Sometimes the old machines act up, and we have to spend an hour or two tinkering with them to get them back on track. We are surrounded by homes and other small businesses, so there is a real sense of community here. You can hear kids playing outside and neighbors chatting while we work. It isn't a high-tech facility, just a place where we use what we have to produce what the customers ask for. We have been here for years, and most people in the neighborhood know us by name. It is a humble way to earn a living, but we are satisfied with it. The work is repetitive but there is something nice about seeing a finished stack of prints at the end of the day.
