If you head over to Andheri East, you’ll find us at Girikunj Industrial Estate. We are in unit B-46, which is just off Mahakal Caves Road. It’s an area that always feels like it’s in motion. There are trucks everywhere and people moving crates at all hours. Bharat Rubber Works has been in this spot for quite some time. The building shows its age a little, with some stains on the concrete and heavy iron shutters that we roll up every morning. Inside, it’s mostly taken up by the machinery and the raw materials. It’s not the quietest place to work, but we like the pace of it. There’s a specific smell to a rubber works—it’s kind of earthy and heavy—and after a few days, you don't even notice it anymore. Our office area is just a corner with a couple of wooden desks and some old chairs that have definitely seen better days. We don't have a fancy lobby or a coffee machine that makes lattes. We just have a kettle and some local tea bags. The guys in the back are usually busy with the presses, and the sound of the machines is the soundtrack to our day. We aren't trying to be anything we’re not. We just do the work, handle the orders, and keep the place running. It gets a bit hot in the summer under the industrial roof, but we have some big fans that help. It’s just honest, everyday work at B-46.
