Lamington Road is a famous spot, but we are a bit hidden away in the Nazz Cinema Compound at No 3. Agpha Filter Industries has its workshop here. It’s an interesting place because the compound feels like it belongs to another era. You have to walk past the old cinema structure to get to our door. Inside, we have filters of every shape and size you can imagine. It’s a bit of a squeeze to move around sometimes because the boxes are piled high. The air has a dry, dusty feel to it because of the filter paper and materials we handle. We don’t have a flashy storefront on the main road. Most people who come here have been coming for years or were sent by someone we know. The office part is just a desk with an old phone and a stack of notebooks for keeping track of orders. Sometimes the noise from the main Bhadkamkar Marg filters in, but mostly the thick walls of the compound keep it quiet. We spend our days checking specifications and packing up filters for transport. The floor is old concrete and it’s got its fair share of cracks. It’s not a polished place, but it’s where we do our work. We know the vendors in the compound and we usually catch up with them over tea in the afternoons.
