Being located at 66/67 in Gold Field Plaza right in Dharavi means we are always in the middle of the action. This area never really stops, and neither do we. We do a lot of industrial work here, mostly stuff that involves heat and metal. It gets pretty hot inside the unit, especially during the summer months when the sun hits the building. We’ve been in this spot for a long time, and we know most of the other shop owners around the plaza. It is a tight-knit place where everyone is just trying to get their work finished. We focus on making things that other businesses need, simple parts or components that go into bigger machines. There is always a lot of clanging and banging going on. We do not have a fancy reception desk or anyone to answer the phones with a script. Usually, someone just wipes their hands on a rag and picks up the line if they hear it over the noise of the fans. The floors are rarely clean because there is always dust or scraps from the day’s tasks. We try to stay on top of the orders, but sometimes things take a bit longer if a machine breaks down or the raw materials show up late. That is just life in an industrial estate. We keep our heads down and get the job done without much fuss.
