Avishkar International is located on the ground floor of the Ghia Building on Princess Street. If you know Mumbai, you know Princess Street is one of those places that’s always crammed with people and goods, especially chemicals and medical supplies. We are right in the middle of that chaos at number 119/123. The building is old, like most things in this part of town, with high ceilings and thick walls. We do a lot of trading and international business from this small ground-floor space. It’s often filled with boxes waiting to be moved out to the docks or delivered to local shops. There’s a lot of paperwork involved in what we do, so there are always stacks of files on the desks. We don't have a lot of room for fluff or fancy decorations because every inch of the office is used for something practical. The noise from the street outside never really stops, with bells from cycles and shouts from the loaders. We just focus on getting our shipments sorted and making sure the documents are all in order for the customs people. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes when we get a lot of stuff in at once, but we manage by being organized. We’ve been here long enough to know all the neighbors and the best time of day to get a truck through the narrow street without getting stuck for hours.
