Avenue Hardware

Avenue Hardware is a small shop located at No. 11 on Narayan Dhuru Cross Lane. We are up on the second floor of the building. This lane is part of the big hardware market, so it’s always crowded with laborers, carts, and customers looking for specific parts. It’s a noisy and narrow place, but it’s where all the trade happens. We’ve been here for many years. Our space is quite small and every inch of it is filled with tools, fasteners, and other hardware items. We don't have a computer system that tracks everything perfectly; we mostly rely on our memory and some handwritten notes. The stairs up to the shop are a bit steep and old, but that doesn't stop people from coming up. We don't do any big advertising or have a fancy logo. People find us because they know we usually have what they are looking for. It’s a lot of manual work, climbing up ladders to reach boxes on the high shelves. The air can be a bit thick with the smell of metal and oil. We spend our days talking to customers, many of whom have become friends over the years. We just keep it simple and focus on being honest about what we have in stock. It’s a traditional way of doing business in a very busy part of the city. We just keep going.
