At Ashok Electronics, we work out of the Tinwala Building at number 11 on Tribhuvan Road. It’s the same spot near the Dreamland Cinema that everyone mentions when they are trying to find us. Working in an area like this means you are always in the middle of everything. The building has been around for decades, and it shows in the way the windows fit and how the floors have worn down over the years. We handle all sorts of electronic things here. It isn't a showroom with bright lights; it’s more of a functional space where we get things done. Some days the traffic on Tribhuvan Road is so bad that it’s faster to walk than to take a rickshaw. We usually start the morning by opening up the shutters and letting some air in before the heat of the day sets in. There are a lot of different businesses in this building, so you are always bumping into people in the corridors. We have our regular routine of checking stock and answering the phone. It’s a bit cluttered with parts and tools, but we know where everything is. We don't spend much time worrying about how the office looks to outsiders because we are usually too busy with the work at hand. It’s a practical way to run a business in this part of the city.
