Arun & Co. is inside the New Islam Mill Compound on Currey Road East. If you know Mumbai, you know these old mill compounds. They have a history and a very specific feel to them. The walls are thick, and the stairs are often a bit uneven. Number 33 is our unit. It’s a busy place with a lot of other small businesses around us. You can hear the sounds of machinery and people talking in the corridors. We’ve been in this compound for years. It’s not the most modern office, but it has character. We handle trading and supplies from here. Currey Road station is close by, so the trains are always rumbling in the background. We don't have a big sign out front. Most people who come here already know where we are. Inside, it’s a bit of a maze of desks and samples. We drink a lot of tea and talk to vendors all day long. The space is a bit dark because the windows are small, but we have plenty of lights. It’s a gritty, hardworking environment. We don't pretend to be anything else. We just get our work done and deal with the daily hustle of the city. It’s a crowded space, but we make it work. Sometimes the rain makes the compound a bit messy, but we just deal with it and keep the inventory dry.
