Artlite Illuminations

Artlite Illuminations is tucked away at 56, Mangaldas Lane, right in the middle of Lohar Chawl. If you know this part of town, you know it’s always packed and noisy. We’ve been operating from this spot for a good bit of time. The shop is full of all sorts of lights and fixtures. It’s a small space, so things are stacked pretty high to make everything fit. We spend our mornings unpacking boxes and checking bulbs. It’s a tight squeeze in the lane, especially when deliveries are coming in. Most of the people who come by are regulars from around the neighborhood or contractors who know exactly what they’re looking for. We don’t do anything flashy. We just sit here among the boxes and help people find the right parts. The wiring, the glass, the metal frames—it all takes up a lot of room. Sometimes the power flickers in the lane, but we just keep going. It’s a bit chaotic during the peak hours of the day, with everyone shouting and carts moving past the door. We try to keep the inventory straight, but it’s a constant job. Working in Lohar Chawl means you get used to the hustle. We open up early and stay until the market starts to quiet down. It’s just honest work in a very busy corner of the city. We’re just here doing our thing at number 56 and trying to stay organized.
