Our shop is tucked away on the second floor of the Lad Wadi building on Old Hanuman Lane. If you’ve ever walked down Kalbadevi Road, you know how crowded and busy it gets. It’s a real maze of narrow lanes and old buildings. We are in Room 27. It’s a small space, packed with all sorts of scientific glass and instruments. Sometimes it feels like there isn’t enough room to move, but we’ve organized it the best we can over the years. We’ve been here for a long time. The building itself is quite old, with those steep wooden stairs that creak when you walk up. It’s a very traditional part of Mumbai’s trading district. We spend our mornings checking orders and our afternoons packing things carefully because glass breaks easily. There’s a lot of bubble wrap and cardboard boxes everywhere. We don't have a website or a social media page. Most of our customers are people who have been buying from us for years or students looking for specific lab gear. The sounds of the street below—the shouting of loaders and the honking of scooters—always drift up through the windows. It’s noisy and dusty, but it’s where we do our business. We know the other shopkeepers around here well. We often share a cup of tea or talk about the market prices. It’s just how things are done in Kalbadevi. We keep it simple and focus on the stock we have.
