About Architect Parimal Mehta – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Mumbai
You can find me over in Wadala at F/1. I have been operating as Architect Parimal Mehta from this location for quite a while now. Wadala is an interesting place to work because you have a mix of old buildings and new stuff going up all the time. My day usually starts with checking emails and then getting into the actual drawing work. I do not have a big staff, so I end up doing most of the things myself. This means I am the one answering the phone and the one visiting the construction sites. It keeps me busy. I have always preferred the practical side of architecture. It is one thing to draw a nice room on paper, but it is another thing to make sure the beams are strong enough to hold it up. I spend a lot of time talking to masons and carpenters. Sometimes we do not agree on how something should be done, and we have to work it out right there on the site. My office isn't very large, just enough room for my table and a few chairs for visitors. People usually drop by in the afternoons to discuss their projects. I try to be realistic about how much things cost and how long they take. There is no point in making promises that cannot be kept. It is just a local architectural practice doing its thing. (246 words)
