Architect Amit Shastri

Our office is right on Vallabhbhai Road, which is basically in the middle of the Bhaji Market area. If you know the market, you know how loud and crowded it gets every single morning. We are at Nagar Road 104. Architect Amit Shastri spends most of his time here looking over maps and talking to people about their construction projects. You can smell the fresh vegetables and hear the vendors shouting while we are trying to figure out where a pillar should go. It is a lively place to work. The building itself is nothing special to look at but it gets the job done for us. We have a few big tables where we spread out the large drawings so we can see every detail clearly. Sometimes the dust from the road comes in through the door so we are always wiping down the desks. We don't have a receptionist or a big waiting room because we are usually out at a site or busy at the drawing board. Most of our clients are local folks who just walk in after doing their shopping at the market. We have some old filing cabinets that have been here forever and they are stuffed with papers from years ago. We like being in this part of town because it feels real and you see everyone passing by. It’s just Amit and a couple of us helping out with the drafting and the site visits.
