Our shop, Ansa Decoglass Pvt Ltd, is up on the first floor of the Simplex Mills Compound in Byculla West. It’s an old building, but it has a lot of character. Working with glass is a bit of a finicky job. You have to be careful with every piece because once it breaks, it’s gone. We do decorative glass, which means we spend a lot of time on details that most people might not even notice at first glance. The air in the compound always smells a certain way, and we’ve gotten used to the climb up to the first floor. We aren't some massive factory with thousands of employees. It’s just us here, making sure the glass looks the way it’s supposed to. Some days are long, especially when we have a big order to finish. We don’t use any scripts when we talk to people; we just tell them what we can do and how long it’ll take. The Byculla area is always moving, and we like being part of that energy. We’ve got some old tools and some newer ones too. It’s a mix of everything. We aren't into the whole polish and shine of corporate life. We’re more about the actual work on the glass. If you come by, you’ll see we’re just regular people trying to do a decent job. It’s been our home for a while now and we just keep going.
