Our shop is in the Xanadu Building. That’s part of the Prathamesh Complex on Veera Desai Road. If you know Andheri West, you know it gets pretty crowded. We spend our days looking at stones and sorting through inventory. It’s quiet work mostly. The building is okay, it’s got decent security which is good for us. We’ve been in this spot for a while. Gems are what we know. We don’t do a lot of shouting about it. People find us when they need something specific. The office has a lot of light which helps with seeing the colors of the stones. Sometimes the traffic on Veera Desai Road makes it a headache to get here. But once you’re inside, it’s a different world. We have small boxes everywhere. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes but we know where everything is. It’s just a few of us here. We handle the cutting and the cleaning and all the small details. It’s steady work. We don’t have a big showroom with lights and mirrors. It’s more of a workspace where things actually happen. We’ve seen the complex grow around us. We just keep doing what we do best. It’s a honest living and we enjoy the quiet days. Most people who come here have been referred by someone else. It’s a small world in the gem trade and we like it that way. We just keep the inventory moving and stay focused.
