Kovils Diabetes Care Centre

Our center is on the ground floor of the Shiv Shish building on S. V. Road in Andheri West. Being on the ground floor is handy for our patients because they don't have to deal with stairs or elevators. We focus on diabetes care, which means we see a lot of the same faces every month for their check-ups. The clinic is usually busy from the moment we open the doors. We have a small waiting area that fills up quickly, and there’s always the sound of names being called and the printer going. Dealing with health can be stressful for people, so we try to keep the atmosphere relaxed. Most of our staff lives nearby in Andheri, so we feel like part of the neighborhood. We’re not a huge hospital, just a specialized center where we try to give everyone the attention they need. Sometimes the traffic on S. V. Road is so loud you can hear it inside, but we’re used to it by now. We spend a lot of time talking to patients about their diets and how they’re feeling. It’s practical work, and we don’t try to make it sound more complicated than it is. We’ve been here long enough to see kids grow up and older folks keep active. It’s just about helping people manage their health one day at a time in our little corner of Mumbai.
