We’ve been here at Gilbert Compound for quite a while now. If you know Sakinaka, you know how busy Kherani Road gets. Our place is down Durga Mandir Lane. It's not the easiest spot to find if you're new around here, but once you see the temple, you're close. The workshop is usually a bit noisy because there’s always something being worked on. We have a few guys who have been with us for years. Most mornings start with a cup of tea from the stall at the corner. The compound is shared with a few other small businesses, so there’s always people coming and going. Sometimes the trucks blocking the lane make it a bit of a headache, but we manage. We don't have a big fancy office or anything like that. It’s just a practical space where we get the jobs done. My desk is usually covered in papers and some metal parts we’re looking at. We focus on our daily tasks and making sure things leave the gate on time. It gets hot in the afternoons, especially in the summer, but we keep the fans going. It’s a simple setup. We don’t really do much advertising. People usually find us through word of mouth or because they’ve seen our sign while walking through the lane. It’s a local business through and through, right here in Andheri East. We just try to do our work well and stay busy.
