Broadcasting Services

Broadcasting Services is based at G-11 in the Zakaria Industrial Estate. The address is a bit of a mouthful, being on Maroshi Road in Marol Village, which is part of Andheri East. It is a crowded part of Mumbai, and getting here through the traffic is always a bit of a struggle. The estate itself is quite old and the stairs are narrow. Inside our space, there is a lot of electronic gear, cables everywhere, and screens that stay on all day. It is a bit cramped because equipment takes up so much room. We are usually busy with technical setups or monitoring feeds. The hum of the cooling fans for the servers is the main sound you hear in here. Marol Village has a very specific feel to it, a bit old-fashioned despite all the modern offices nearby. We get our lunch from the small dabbas or the local stalls around the corner. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the window when the monsoon is heavy, so we have to move the expensive stuff away from the glass. It is a technical job but the environment is very casual. We are often here late into the night because of the nature of broadcasting schedules. There is always something that needs fixing or a cable that has gone bad. It is just the way this kind of work goes.
