Our studio is over in Andheri East, right in the Kanchan Industrial Estate. It’s unit 103 B. If you know the area near the Sakinaka Telephone Exchange, we are pretty close to that on the road leading to Safed Pull. The industrial estate is a bit gray and has that old Mumbai feel to it. Inside the studio, it’s mostly just tripods, different colored backdrops, and a lot of wires on the floor. Amogh Thakur Photography isn't some high-end corporate office. It's a place where we move lights around and try to get the shadows right. The air conditioner hums quite loudly, but it helps with the heat from the big studio lamps. We spend a lot of time looking at screens and clicking through hundreds of files. Sometimes the elevator in the building acts up, so we end up carrying heavy bags of lenses up the stairs. It’s part of the grind. We deal with all kinds of people, from those needing a simple headshot to others bringing in products. There is always a stack of empty memory cards on the desk and a half-eaten packet of biscuits somewhere. We don't put on an act or use big words. We just take the photos and hope the weather is good when we have to go outside for a shoot. It's a busy life here in Andheri, and we just keep our heads down and do the work day after day.
