Being in Mangaldas Market means it is always a bit chaotic. Amod Agencies is tucked away in the 2nd Lane of Kalbadevi. If you have been to this market, you know how tight the lanes are and how many people are always moving around with bundles on their heads. Our shop is numbers 108/116. It is a lot of fabric and rolls of material stacked from the floor to the ceiling. Sometimes I think we have too much stuff, but then someone comes in looking for exactly what is buried at the bottom of a pile. We spend our days cutting, measuring, and wrapping. My father used to run this place, and I took over after I finished school. I’ve known the neighbors for years. We all help each other out when someone needs a hand or a bit of change. It’s not a fancy life. We drink a lot of tea and talk about the prices going up or the rain coming. We don't have a big office. I just have a small stool and a desk where I do the billing. The light isn't great in the back of the shop, but we know where everything is. It’s a busy, cramped, and noisy place, but it feels like home to us. We just keep doing what we’ve always done, day after day, in the heart of the market, trying to keep the stacks tidy.
