Our office is tucked away on the first floor of the D. Sonawala Building over on Patthe Bapurao Marg in the Grant Road area. If you know Mumbai then you know how crowded and loud it gets around here. We are at plot number six and the stairs can be a bit narrow when you are carrying bags of samples. We deal with seeds of all kinds and it is a pretty straightforward business most of the time. There are always people walking by on the street below and the noise of the traffic never really stops. Inside the office it is usually a mix of people typing on old keyboards and the smell of various seeds being sorted or tested. We don't have a big corporate lobby or people in suits waiting at the door. It is mostly just us in our regular clothes trying to make sure the orders are right and that the quality is what it should be. The building itself has been around for a long time and it has that old Mumbai feel to it with the high ceilings and the way the light comes in through the dusty windows. We focus on the work at hand and don't worry too much about looking fancy. It is a busy life but we enjoy being right in the middle of the city where everything is happening so fast and we can find anything we need just by walking down the block.
