About Akruti Architects – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Mumbai
Our office is over in Chembur, tucked away in room 401. It’s not a huge place, but it fits what Akruti Architects needs to do every day. Usually, the morning starts with checking emails and looking over the sketches from the day before. The building itself is pretty standard for Chembur, and we've gotten used to the rhythm of the neighborhood over the years. We have a few desks pushed together and a lot of shelving for all the samples and files that pile up. It’s mostly just us working through technical details and trying to make sure the measurements actually make sense for the site. Sometimes we spend hours just arguing over where a wall should go or how to fit a bathroom into a tight corner. We don’t have a big receptionist or a lobby with fancy chairs. You just walk in and we're right there at our computers or at the drafting table. It gets a bit loud when everyone is talking at once, but that’s just how it is. We’ve had some people coming to us for years now. It’s nice when someone brings in a photo of a finished house we helped with. We keep things pretty simple here. No big speeches or complicated jargon, just regular talk about building stuff. If the tea guy comes by, everything stops for five minutes. That’s our routine. Sometimes we get stuck on a design for days, but we eventually figure it out by talking it through. It is just steady, honest work.
