Ajanta Auto Enterprises

Opera House is a mess of cars and people. We are right in the thick of it. The street is always loud with honking and people shouting for parts. Our shop is small but we keep it organized as much as we can. There are shelves filled with different things, and sometimes finding one small screw takes a few minutes of searching. We don’t have fancy displays or anything like that. Most of the time, we are just talking to mechanics or other shop owners around here. Lunch is usually eaten quick at the counter because someone always walks in right when you open your dabba. The fan in the corner makes a clicking sound that we’ve stopped noticing. People know where we are because we’ve been here at Ajanta Auto Enterprises for quite some time. It’s a lot of manual work, checking lists and making sure the right boxes go out. The humidity in this part of Mumbai hits hard in July, and the shop feels even smaller then. We don't do anything special, just show up, handle the orders, and close up when the sun goes down. It’s a busy life in a busy neighborhood, and that’s just how it goes for us. We see the same faces every day and that makes the long hours feel a bit shorter even when the heat is bad. It is just the way business works in this part of the city.
