Aikido Of Bombay

We set up our space in Bandra East, right across from the American School of Bombay in the Kherwadi BKC area. It’s a busy part of the city, but inside the doors, it’s a bit quieter. Aikido Of Bombay is where we practice and teach. It isn't a fancy gym with neon lights or loud music. It’s just a floor with mats and enough space for people to move around. We started this because we wanted a place to train that wasn't too formal or intimidating. Most of the time it’s just a few of us sweating through the basics. We don't have a marketing team or a big budget. People usually find us by walking past or hearing about it from a friend. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but that’s not really the priority. We focus on the practice itself. Sometimes the noise from the street drifts in, but you get used to it. It’s a simple setup. We keep the mats clean and make sure the door is open on time. There aren't any big speeches or complicated rules. You just show up and do the work. It feels like a community of sorts, even if we are all just trying to figure things out as we go. We enjoy the sessions and the people who come by. That’s enough for us. It’s a good way to stay active and clear the head.
