Our office is located at 11 Laxmi Niwas on Shivaji Park Road No 5 in Mahim West. It’s a nice part of Mumbai, right near the water, though we are mostly stuck inside looking at numbers. I work as the accountant for Konark Computers Pvt Limited here. The building is one of those classic Mumbai residential-style structures, and we’ve been based here for a good while. Mahim has a very specific feel to it. Working on Road No 5 means we are close enough to the park, but it’s still a bit of a walk. Inside, the space is packed with files and papers. It’s not a modern glass-and-steel office; it’s more lived-in and functional. We have computers all over, as you might expect given the business. My desk is usually covered in receipts and bank statements that need sorting. The sea breeze sometimes makes it into the room if the windows are open, which is a nice break when it gets hot. We don’t really have customers coming in here since it’s more of a back-office spot for the accounting side of the company. It’s just a small group of us keeping the financial side of the computer business running. We deal with the daily numbers and make sure the bills are paid on time. It’s steady work in a familiar neighborhood where we know all the local tea vendors. It suits us just fine.
