Abrasive Technology

We’ve been tucked away in the Shivkrupa Industrial Estate for a good while now. It’s unit 123, right off L.B.S. Marg in Vikhroli West. If you know this part of Mumbai, you know how busy the roads get, especially with all the trucks coming in and out of the industrial pockets. Our days here at Abrasive Technology are mostly about handling all sorts of abrasive materials. It’s not the cleanest job in the world, as everything gets covered in a fine layer of dust by midday, but we’re used to it. The shop is basically our second home. We open up early, usually before the traffic really starts to crawl on the main road, and we get to work organizing the stock. People come by looking for specific grinding wheels or sandpaper types for their own factories or workshops nearby. Sometimes the machines are humming so loud you have to shout a bit to be heard over the noise. It’s a practical place, nothing fancy to look at, just shelves and boxes everywhere. We spend a lot of time checking orders and making sure the right stuff goes to the right person. Vikhroli has changed a lot over the years with new buildings popping up, but this little corner of the estate feels pretty much the same as it always has. We just keep our heads down and get the orders filled. It’s what we do for a living and we just keep at it.
