Abhishek Durg Photography is based right here in Mumbai. It’s a big, messy city, and that’s where most of the work happens. I don't have a huge studio with white walls and assistants running around. Usually, it’s just me and my camera bags. I spend a lot of time on trains or in rickshaws getting from one side of the city to the other for a shoot. My apartment is usually cluttered with lenses, tripods, and chargers plugged into every outlet. Sometimes I spend hours staring at a computer screen trying to get the lighting to look natural in a photo. I don't really do the whole artistic vision talk. I just take pictures of things as they are. Whether it’s a small wedding or some portraits, I just show up and do the work. The weather in Mumbai can be a real pain for photography, especially when the monsoon hits and everything gets damp. I’ve had to dry out my gear more times than I can count. I don't have a fancy office or a secretary to take calls. If you call, you’ll just get me, and I might be in the middle of a crowd or on a noisy street. I’ve been doing this for a few years now. It’s not always glamorous, and my back usually hurts from carrying the gear, but it’s a living. I just try to capture what's in front of the lens without overthinking it.
