Abhechand Shamji & Co. is based at B. P. T. Plot No. 45 D. We are situated on Ghodupdeo X Road No - 2, which is part of the Reay Road West area. This part of Mumbai is very old and industrial, being on Port Trust land. There are a lot of large warehouses and heavy trucks moving through these narrow roads all day long. Our place is part of that landscape. It’s an old plot with high ceilings and heavy doors that take some muscle to move. The air always has a bit of a salty, metallic smell because we are so close to the docks. We don't have an air-conditioned lobby or a fancy sign out front. Most of the time, the walls are covered in a thin layer of dust from the road. We keep a few old wooden chairs for when people need to sit and wait, but usually, everyone is on their feet. The lighting comes from a few old bulbs and whatever sunlight manages to get through the high windows. It’s not a place for looking stylish; it’s a place for getting things done. We’ve been operating out of this Reay Road spot for a long time, and we know the rhythms of the port area well. Everything is about the schedule of the trucks and the movement of goods. We just fit into that flow and keep our corner of the plot running.
