Our office is on the third floor of the Govind Building. The address is No. 140/142 on Princess Street. If you know Mumbai, you know how busy this street gets. It is the heart of the wholesale market, so there is always a crowd outside. Our room is No. 29. Climbing those stairs every day keeps us in shape, though the lift works most of the time. The building has that old charm with thick walls and high windows. Inside, it is a bit cramped with all the ledgers and files we keep. We have been operating from Princess Street for many years. It is a noisy place with the sounds of carts and shouting coming up from the street, but we are used to it. We deal with various products and spend a lot of time on the phone talking to suppliers and customers. There is a small window in our room that looks out over the rooftops. In the monsoon, the rain hits the glass pretty hard. We usually have a lot of people dropping in for quick meetings or to pick up documents. It is a simple setup, just a few desks and chairs. We don't see the need for fancy furniture when the work is what matters. The tea guy comes around twice a day, which is the highlight for most of us. Living and working in this part of the city is an experience. It is messy and loud, but it is where everything happens.
