Raju Industrial Estate is where you’ll find us, specifically at number 21 on Penkar Pada Road. It’s an industrial area, so there’s always the sound of trucks and machinery in the background. A-1 Fence Products Company has been based in Mira for a good stretch of time. Our workspace is big and open, mostly because we need the room for the fencing materials. It’s not a place for suits or polished shoes. Most of us wear heavy boots because there’s metal and wire everywhere. The air usually tastes a bit like iron, and the floor is scarred from moving heavy loads around. We don't have much in the way of an office, just a small partitioned area with a desk and a computer where the orders get printed out. Most of the real work happens on the floor. We spend our days measuring, cutting, and checking the inventory. It’s physical work and it gets hot, especially during the summer months. There is a lot of banging and clanging, so we don't do much talking unless we have to. We keep a big stash of cold water in the corner. People come by to pick up rolls of fencing or to ask about specific sizes. We just tell them what we have in stock and how long it’ll take to get more. It’s a simple, hardworking environment without any extra fluff.
