Getting to Vemados Textiles Llp in the morning is quite a task because Sakinaka traffic is always a mess. We are located in the Mittal Industrial Estate, specifically unit 6/119 on the Andheri Kurla Road. It is a massive place with so many units that people often get lost looking for us. The estate is always buzzing with the sound of different businesses doing their own thing. Our unit is packed with fabric samples and rolls of cloth that seem to take up every spare inch of space. We have a small area for the staff to sit, but usually, people are on their feet. The walls are a bit scuffed from moving heavy equipment around over the years. We keep a calendar on the wall with all the dates marked out in red ink. It’s not the quietest place to work because of the planes flying over toward the airport and the constant honking from the main road outside. We drink a lot of chai from the local vendor who comes around at eleven and four. The light in the office is a bit yellow, but it’s enough to see what we are doing with the threads and patterns. Being in Andheri East means everything moves fast, and we just try to keep up with the daily list of things to do. It’s a crowded space, but we know where everything is kept, even the small stuff.
