If you know the Andheri West area, you probably know where Navrang Cinema is. We are tucked away right behind it in Gaondevi Dongri. Our place is Room Number 2 in the C.B.D. Chawl on J.P. Road. It is a very local kind of spot, not the kind of office you see in a big glass building. There is a lot of character in these lanes. Every day, the sounds of the street come right through the door. We handle both apparels and accessories here at Surathi. Space is a bit tight sometimes with all the stock piled up, but we make it work. Most of our neighbors have been here for years, so everyone knows each other. We spend a lot of time sorting through different materials and checking the latest batches of clothes. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, but that is just part of working in Mumbai. The location is actually quite handy because being near the station and the main road makes it easy for deliveries to reach us, even if the traffic behind the cinema is a nightmare. We aren't trying to do anything grand, just running a steady operation from our little room. People stop by to chat or ask for directions because we are so close to the landmark. It feels like a real community here. We just keep our heads down and focus on the apparel side of things every single day.
