Our office for Sudit K. Parekh & Co. is located at B2/103 in Akshar Apartment, right on Hemukalani Road in Kandivali West. It’s a typical suburban setup for a firm like ours. We’ve been in this building for a while, and the neighbors are used to seeing us coming and going with our briefcases. Kandivali is a busy part of Mumbai, and Hemukalani Road has its fair share of noise and activity. Inside the office, it’s mostly just the sound of keyboards clicking and the occasional printer running. We have shelves lining the walls because there’s always more paperwork than we have room for. It’s not a polished corporate suite; it’s a working office where we actually do the grinding work of accounting. Sometimes the monsoon rains leak a little near the window, but we just move the files and keep going. Most of our clients are local business people from the 400067 area who find it convenient to drop by. We spend a lot of time on the phone or staring at computer screens. It’s a simple operation where the focus is just on getting the math right and meeting the government deadlines. We usually have a tea break in the afternoon to stay awake during the long tax seasons. It’s just us, working away in a regular apartment block, trying to make sense of all the numbers.
