You can find us at the JVPDShopping Centre in Irla. We are in the housing electricity sub division area, at shop number 61. Vile Parle West is a busy part of Mumbai, and there's always something going on outside the doors. We’ve been around for a while now, making different kinds of apparel for various people. The shop isn't very big, so we have to use every single inch of it. We have racks of clothes against the walls and a heavy cutting table in the back that's seen a lot of use over the years. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than three people are inside at the same time. We don't really have a sales pitch or any fancy talk. We just show people what we've made and let them decide for themselves. Some days are slow and we just sit and talk over tea, but other days we can't even stop for a proper meal because the work is piled up. The light in the shopping centre can be a bit dim, so we have some extra lamps around the work area to see the stitches better. It’s a practical space. We don't spend money on decorations because we'd rather spend it on better fabric or fixing an old machine. People come in from the neighborhood, mostly regulars who have been coming to us for years. We know their names and what they usually like. It’s a small-scale life, but it works fine for us.
