Secretfflies Sister'S Foundation. We’re located in Room Number 4, Nandadevi Chawl, Utkarsh Nagar in Bhandup. It’s a typical Mumbai chawl, so it’s very close-knit. You can hear everything your neighbor is doing, and everyone knows everyone's business. That’s actually why we started this. We’re a group of women from the chawl who wanted to help each other out. Life in Bhandup is fast and can be quite hard if you’re on your own. We use this small room to meet and talk about our problems. Maybe someone needs help with a loan, or someone is sick and needs help with the kids. We don't have any funding from big companies. We just put in a bit of our own money when we can. It's a very simple setup. A few mats on the floor and a small cupboard for our files. It gets very hot in the summer, but we still meet. We don't use any fancy language to talk about what we do. We’re just sisters helping sisters. That’s it. Sometimes we cook together or help the kids with their homework. The chawl is our whole world. We don't need a big office for this. We just need to be there for each other when things get difficult, which they often do in a city like this. It is just our way of getting by and making things easier for the families.
