Scavengers Welfare Foundation. We’re located in Dahisar East, specifically at Sarita Prabhat Industrial area. It’s right near the toll naka, so it’s always noisy with trucks and cars passing by. We have units 601 and 602. It’s an industrial setting, which makes sense for the kind of work we look at. The people we work with have hard jobs. They are the ones cleaning up after everyone else. It’s not easy work and it’s often ignored. We try to provide a bit of a base for them here. The office isn't anything to look at—just some desks, some old files, and a lot of tea. We spend a lot of time out in the field though. You can't understand what's going on if you just stay in the office. The air around the toll naka is always a bit dusty. We’ve been here for a while and the locals know what we’re about. We don't make big speeches. We just try to make sure the workers have their basic rights and maybe a bit of respect, which they don't get enough of. It’s a struggle sometimes to get things done, but we’re used to it. The industrial estate is a busy place, and we’re just one small part of it. We keep our heads down and focus on the day-to-day tasks that need doing to keep things moving for the workers.
