Rahmtullah Azad Foundation

We set up the Rahmtullah Azad Foundation right here in Indira Nagar. If you know the area, we are near the Lohar Chawl in Mandala, just across from where the Kurla scrap market is. It’s a busy, noisy part of town, but it’s where we are needed. Sadique Ali handles a lot of the daily bits and pieces. We don’t have a fancy glass office or anything like that. It’s just a practical space where we can get together and figure out how to help the people nearby. Some days it’s just a few of us sitting around a desk, and other days it’s a bit of a madhouse with people coming in and out. We aren't trying to be some big corporate entity. We just live and work in Mankhurd and want to do something decent for the neighborhood. It’s not always easy keeping things organized in such a crowded spot, but we do our best with what we have. Most of our work is just dealing with local issues as they come up. We don’t have a big marketing budget or a team of experts. It’s just us, some chairs, and a lot of paperwork. If you’re ever walking past the scrap market, you’ll probably see us around. We’ve been here for a bit now and the locals know where to find us when they need a hand with something. It’s simple work, really.
